WAIT WAIT WAIT!
Before I even show you the wedding, I have to show you how they met!
So, how did you meet?: We met in 2016, both having come out of long term relationships and NOT looking for love. However we really hit it off and got on so well. Ryan told me after a week that he had a great job opportunity in Dubai and if he got the job he would be seeing it through. We decided to carry on seeing each other and enjoy each others company till we knew what was going to happen. Out of 3000 applicants he only went and got the job! I was really happy for him but part of me was a little bit devastated (a lot) anyway when it came to goodbyes he was way more emotional than me, I promised myself I wouldn’t cry because I didn’t want him to feel bad! I just said “look if you’re my lobster it will work out anyway.” He said “lobster? Eh?” He clearly wasn’t a Friends fan. I said ‘google it’. Once he left, he googled, and found out Phoebe Buffay’s lobster theory. He boarded his flight to Dubai the next day, got ready for take off turned on the in-flight entertainment and the first image that came up was a lobster for a recommended cooking show. Safe to say he was back in the UK 4 days later and we’ve not been apart since.
I’m not crying, you are!
Sophie enquired with me via Instagram. It was an enquiry for me to photograph their intimate wedding ceremony at Leeds Town Hall and then their wedding party celebration at The Venue in Halifax, it was something I didn’t hesitate about! A small ceremony with your closest friends and family in Leeds and a huge party celebrating with 200 of your pals at a cool new wedding venue in Halifax, how could I not be excited to photograph that?
It was a modern take on a wedding day morning; Sophie got ready at home with Ryan and the boys and they made their way to Leeds Town Hall together. As a wedding photographer it’s a lovely moment to photograph a ceremony with only 21 people, it just feels that little bit more intimate and emotional.
After the ceremony and a few formals we headed up the road in Leeds city centre. As a true wedding photographer always looking for the one shot I’d sourced out some spots earlier in the day for us to get some un-traditional, cool, modern photographs. When you’re in the city, it’s got to be done!
Two days later..
The evening reception was two days later on the Friday, at an amazing new(-ish) venue, ironically called ‘The Venue’ in Barkisland, Halifax. It’s a modern twist on an old mill with arched ceilings, beautiful wooden floors and exposed pillars, and to be honest its most wedding photographers’ dream. Sophie and Ryan celebrated with 200 of their friends and family, laughed, cried, drank Prosecco and ate burgers.
Sophie and Ryan I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, thank you so much for choosing me to be your wedding photographer. I had an amazing two days with you guys and I wish you all the luck in the world with your little family xo
